A Note from the Director Never before have I replaced a calendar with such vigor! A new year often brings optimism, hope and determination to make positive changes. Personally, 2021 makes me optimistic about the promise of a COVID-19 vaccine, allows me to hope I'll be able to gather with friends and family members I haven't seen in almost a year, and is reigniting my determination to make the ACWL-Nuveen a pillar of diverse and accessible arts programming. This month brings some changes. We are saying goodbye to our wonderful bookkeeper Stephanie Dalrymple who has been with us for almost three years. She went above and beyond the job description and has been a key figure in ensuring the ACWL-Nuveen is fiscally responsible. We will miss her tremendously! We are excited, however, to welcome Janet Flood as our new Finance Associate. You can read more about Janet in the article below. |

We will be kicking off 2021 with an exhibition titled 'Grand Gestures'. Nine local intergenerational artists tackled the challenge of interpreting the theme and creatively expressed themselves on very large sheets of paper! (I'm standing in front of the piece by Hailey Bos). The show will open on Tuesday, January 12 and be on display through February 6.Tune into our Facebook page for a live interview with a few of the artists on Friday, January 22 at 5:00pm. We are also slowly bringing back classes! Our Open Studio sessions for Middle and High School students have resumed and the first SPARK! session of 2021 will be held next Wednesday. We are in the process of scheduling classes – both virtual and in-person – for all ages starting in February. In the meantime, we are still selling our art kits and have plans to add a take-home clay kit soon! I hope 2021 brings health, happiness and joy to you and your family - I look forward to seeing you in the gallery or at one of our classes soon! Happy New Year! Erin Peyer, ACWL-Nuveen Director |

Limited classes for children are available throughout the month of January. Adult classes will *hopefully* resume in February. Class size is limited to 6 students. Each student will get their own table which will be 6 ft from the neighboring tables. Students will have their own set of supplies that will be sanitized before class. Students must wear masks, use the provided hand sanitizer, and abide by social distancing mandates. ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported in part by grants from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust. |
