The artist for the Colby Street Pocket Park Mural has been chosen! The mural selection committee - made up of representatives from the ACWL-Nuveen, CatchMark Technologies, the City of Whitehall, and the White Lake Community Fund - met last month to choose one artist from three finalists. The selected artist - Stephen Hargash of Frankenmuth, Michigan - will be tasked with completing the 1,440 square foot mural over the course of the summer.

As part of the application process, Stephen completed a concept design drawing, which you can see above. This initial design is a draft that was informed by research he did on the White Lake area and his review of all of the community mural input surveys we gathered this past fall. The next step for Stephen in finalizing his design for the mural will be a community engagement session in which he will seek feedback from YOU and other community members! Please make plans to join us on Thursday, May 1 between 5:00 - 6:30pm at the ACWL-Nuveen. Around 5:15, Stephen will give a brief explanation of his thought process and how he came up with his current draft. He will then take questions and suggestions from the audience. If you can't make it for the entire event, you are welcome to stop in whenever you can. We will have written questionnaire forms available for you to fill out.
Enjoy these examples of Stephen's previous mural work!
