November brings our annual Fall Into the Arts (FITA) themed youth exhibit showcasing unique artwork from area K-12 school arts programs. The show, which opens on November 8 and runs till December 17, serves as a showcase for local talent, and it helps raise funds to support their art programs.
Every year the teachers are emailed a thematic prompt to inspire fresh artwork. This year’s theme “Discovering Space", was sent to launch students’ imaginations and as Captain James T. Kirk would say – “Space is the final frontier. Explore strange new worlds and boldly go where no man has gone before!” Space is also an essential art element open to endless possible creative compositional interpretations.
We hope you will stop by and visit the exhibition to see how the artists explored space and to support these essential visual arts programs. There will be a donation box next to each of the school’s displays and you can also donate online here. We will be hosting an opening reception for the artists, their families, friends and the community on Saturday November 9 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday 11:00am – 3:00pm and Saturday from 11:00am – 3:00pm. We are located at 106 E. Colby, downtown Whitehall. 231-893-2524.
