Typically, in January the ACWL-Nuveen reserves our gallery space to highlight the artwork of our talented students and instructors in the annual Studio Art Showcase exhibition. For this year’s show on display January 21 through March 1, we held a public reception on January 25. The wintery Saturday afternoon drew a great crowd attending to support the multi-generational visual artists and the special talent: White Lake’s own Nuveen Theatre Improv Troupe! The group of local improv enthusiasts, who meet at the ACWL-Nuveen on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 6-7:30pm, used the public reception to show off their talent. Led by Alice Gambel, the group of performers entertained the crowd with their spontaneity, quick wit, and creativity. The combination of pop-up performances during the reception and the opportunity to view and interact with ACWL-Nuveen artists and instructors made for a memorable afternoon.
