The Arts Council of White Lake - Nuveen Center welcomes entries for the fifth annual ACWL-Nuveen Juried Exhibition, March 14 - April 19, 2025. This exhibit is open to all artists 18+ working in 2-D, 3-D and digital media. Generously supported by Blue Lake Public Radio and CatchMark Technologies, cash prizes will be awarded.

This year's Juror is Christopher Shields. Christopher Shields is an artist and professor based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned his BFA degree in Drawing at Kendall College of Art & Design and studied Printmaking and Cinematic Film History at the Royal College of Art in London, England, before obtaining his MFA in Painting at Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 2002.
His work uses nostalgic iconography and illustrative imagery to create resolute pieces that explore the nature of individual identity with our unique connections to community. The work has been exhibited nationally, and most recently, Christopher placed as a top 25 finalist in ArtPrize 2023 and received the coveted Prism Award for his oil painting, Technophobia.
Christopher has taught Drawing, Painting, Color Theory, Digital and Design classes at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, the Art Institute of Michigan in Novi, the Arts Council of White Lake Nuveen Center in Whitehall, and currently teaches Foundation Drawing and 3D Form & Space classes at Muskegon Community College in Muskegon, Michigan.
