We are thrilled to announce that we received a $17,500 grant award from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC). We wrote the competitive state-wide grant in July requesting money to help us with daily operational expenses and to support our multi-generational community arts programming. The FY2025 MACC Operational Support grant allocates $13,202 in state funds and $4,298 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). As part of the award the ACWL-Nuveen is required to provide a match of $4,375 to meet the grant requirements.
Prior to receiving our award, the ACWL-Nuveen's grant request went through the MACC peer review process. Our grant was evaluated by a panel of in-state and out-of-state arts and cultural professionals. This process ensures that taxpayers, who support this project through legislative appropriations, and all other visitors or residents in Michigan will have access to the highest quality arts and cultural experiences.
Receiving these funds is a very big deal for our small but mighty non-profit! This funding will not only help us keep our lights on – it will allow us to continue to offer our stellar annual cultural programming. The ripple effect of this grant goes beyond the ACWL-Nuveen walls. It spreads out into the community, contributing to the local economy and the quality of life for White Lake and West Michigan residents and visitors to the area.
The ACWL-Nuveen would like to publicly thank MACC, the NEA, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, State Senator Jon Bumstead, and State Representative Curtis VanderWall for their support of our arts programming!
