About the event
Learn a new technique or three! Over the course of two sessions, students will learn the basics of a viking weave knit, a french crochet style, and a basic crochet/knitting of wire to create wire jewelry. Students will have the option to add some colourful seed beads into the mix. These techniques require very basic tools and are fun to do while watching TV on a cold winter's night. All materials will be provided.
Class minimum: 4
Class maximum: 6
About the Instructor:
Casey Bemis has lived in the Whitehall area for 12 years now, working in her studio in the quiet woods just a few miles from Lake Michigan. Much of the work is inspired by nature, geometry and science. Utilizing her undergraduate degree in painting, she draws directly on sheets of metal to be etched and then made into unique jewelry. She also paints and finds some time to work on several novels.
ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported in part by grants from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust.
