Call for Artists

The ACWL-Nuveen invites artists of ALL ages who have attended one or more of our studio classes to submit artwork created in their classes for a community exhibition. This exhibit will be a celebration of both our students and teachers, giving the public a closer look into the variety of instructional classes we offer and the outstanding creative results! And as an incentive to encourage more creativity in 2025, all the artists in the exhibit will be included in a drawing to win a $25 dollar credit toward their next class! 

 

Eligibility:

Open to artists of ALL ages - FREE. Only original works of art created during an ACWL-Nuveen class or youth or adult open studio between 2022 and 2024. All mediums accepted. It is ok if the artwork started in class or open studio and finished at home.

 

Entry Procedure: 

Each artist may enter two pieces. Please include a brief (3-5 sentence) description of your experience creating the piece/taking the class. Entries must be delivered to the ACWL-Nuveen, 106 E. Colby St. Whitehall, MI 49461 by Saturday, January 11. All forms must be completed in their entirety to ensure correct identification, pricing, and notification.

 

Framing and Labeling:

All the artworks submitted must be ready for display. It would be appreciated if 2D artwork is framed but if you want to display a sketch, we will pin it or clip it unframed. Framed artwork must have a wire for us to hang it on the wall – please no sawtooth hangers. Make sure sculptural pieces are steady and secure for the duration of the exhibition. Affix entry labels firmly to the back of the entries, in the upper right corner. If you need assistance preparing your work for display, please contact ACWL-Nuveen staff. Unsuitably prepared work for the exhibition may be declined. 

 

Conditions & Liability: 

Artwork must be on display for the duration of the exhibit. Your work does not have to be for sale but if you want to sell there will be a 15% commission charged with proceeds going to support the ACWL-Nuveen. If work is sold, you will have to complete a W-9 tax form. The ACWL-Nuveen will take every precaution to ensure the protection of artwork. However, we are not responsible for any loss or damage.

Drop off entries: Between Tuesday, January 7 and Saturday, January 11 during ACWL-Nuveen hours:

     Tuesday – Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. - Saturday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Exhibit Dates: Tuesday, January 21 - Saturday, March 1

Reception: Saturday, January 25, 1:00 – 3:00pm

Pick-up Work: Between Tuesday, March 4 and Saturday, March 8 during ACWL-Nuveen hours
