Lend a hand in designing and creating a permanent sculpture in the White Lake community. Students will work with Amy and John Wilkinson, professional artist duo. They will learn techniques and skills in large scale installations and metal work.
Students will learn skill of line drawing and watercolor to create a finished piece that will be apart of our Career in the Arts exhibit.

September 24 & 25
Ages: Middle School and High School Students
Enjoy drinks and friends while you paint a custom piece of your pet. When you register you will be asked to email a picture of your pet. This will be pre-drawn onto a canvas ready for finishing touches the day of the event. Images may be cropped to best fit the canvas.
Cost is $40
A portion of the cost will be given to the Muskegon Humane Society!
There are only 25 spaces available so time is of the essence for this event!

Calling all teachers and school staff! Join us for an appreciation day at the Nuveen Center. We will have light refreshments and a special discount for you. Shop to support local artists and find out more about how Nuveen can help your students.
Join as we venture together to Grand Rapids to take in the views of Art Prize. On September 28 a few cars will be leaving from the Nuveen Center in the morning and will return that evening. We are offering rides first come first serve. Register here for a donation of your choosing. If you are also willing to drive and give rides please call or email Nuveen@artswhitelake.org. Please only signup if you plan to attend! Space is limited. Donations will be collected day of.
September 28 Schedule
9 am- Depart from the Nuveen Center, 106 E. Colby St. Whitehall
10 am- Drop guest off at Fountain Street Church
Guests are welcome to roam at their leisure. Staff members will be at the UICA at 11:30 and guests are welcome to meet them there to spend the day with the ACWL group.
5 pm- pick up at Fountain Street Church (same location as drop off)
6 pm- arrive back at Nuveen Center
Grab a friend and come enjoy a snack and painting session. Students will create two canvases to show off their initials. There work will be ready to take home by the end of class.
Join us to create your own ring using a handmade bead and silver plated wire. No prior experience required.

October 1-5, 4:30-6:30 pm
Join Casey Bemis in her studio to learn the art of metal work. You will learn the basics of cutting, texture, and making rivets to create a custom piece of art.
Finished products will be displayed at our Career in the Arts exhibit.
In this class students will learn about color theory, mixing of flow acrylic paints and two techniques to use in creating a paint-poured canvas. In the second class, students will learn how to finish and seal their painting.
October 2 & 9
Celebrate the work of Muskegon based artists Amy and John Wilkinson in our newest exhibit, NAME. The gallery is full of their whimsical creations that bring dream like dress forms and bears to life. Meet the artists at the public reception and lecture on October 4. Refreshments are provided by Fetch Brewing Co. and the Artist in Residence program is kindly funded by the White Lake Lothmann Family Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
John and Amy have worked as an artistic team since 1991, and have created a wide range of public, private, and commercial works of two- and three-dimensional art and installations, and have also been engaged in the performance arts through film, stage, television, and music. Both are experienced in the art of presentation, education, and demonstration.

Learn basic wrapping techniques while you make your own wire wrap necklace. Stones will be provided, but you can bring your own.

Stop by The Book Nook and Java Shop to support the ACWL - Nuveen. 20% of all purchases will be donated back to support art programming. You will also see guest bartenders Chelsea Kirksey (ACWL - Nuveen director) and June Schmelzer (long-time ACWL - Nuveen supporter) working the event.

Our teacher, Linda Busse, has spent much of her life loving, riding, training, showing, drawing and painting horses. In this class students will learn about the horse: How it moves, its parts, and how to draw the horse's head and body.

Our annual school exhibition is back. Students will submit their math inspired artwork. So break out the rulers and freshen up on your geometry. Embrace the colliding of two worlds in this exhibit.
